I did a fun, naughty thing Saturday. Not that kind of fun, naughty thing. I sent a podcast-style message to one of my ex-wives. Never mind the bug eyes, there are only two of them.
The naughty part was I used some Allman Brothers music in the background...and foreground. Dang, that was fun. No, I don't have permission from Gregg and the boys to use their stuff as part of my creative stuff, but I'm trusting my ex to not turn me in. I also told her not to share the MP3 file with anyone.
A while back I changed my home page from plain vanilla Google to iGoogle. Kinda cool stuff. Way cooler than the stuff I used to have on my Yahoo! page
Anyway, one of the "gadgets" iGoogle stuck on my home page has a different "how to" from www.wikihow.com every day. They have a ton of articles on how-to most anything. Not sure about the naughty stuff. Didn't check.
What I did check was how to go about creating a podcast with legal music in it. Seems like quite the ordeal. The technology is elementary, it's the legal stuff that's trifling.
While some people are easy to get along with when it comes to using their music, they generally have their hand out to one degree or another. I'll do more research. I'll need to find out if the author of the article and I have the same idea about what's "reasonable', or "cheap" as it applies to paying for distribution rights to music.
I suppose I could/should/will have to create my own music. Back in the day of the zither and lute, I played music. I suppose I still can.
The mixer I still have from the days of yore has become annoyingly noisy. Something in the master volume fader. I'll try some contact cleaner, but I'm not holding my breath.
I found a new one online at Musicians Friend for only $69. I'll be throwin' down for that f' sho'.
The only thing I love more than music is music toys. Instruments, gear, accessories, etc. If it's musical and you can plug it in, I'm all over it.
With that thought in mind, it occurs to me that not all folks are as enthusiastic as yours truly about keeping up with their music. I anyone knows of any such good people who may have unwanted, or abandoned music toys they would like to donate to a warm, loving home, please let me know. I'm not in much of a position to offer remuneration, but I can promise a good home and lots of love.
Electric guitars, basses, keyboards, drum machines, effects, mixers and the like would be excellent candidates. Not to be a choosey beggar, but I'd prefer to house and love items in reasonably good working order.
I have a perfectly good saxophone I used to play, but in the interest of keeping my current apartment and not alienating my neighbors, I leave the sax in the case.
For those of you who share my enjoyment of sax music, I'd be willing to play again if anybody knows of a cheap room in a barn someplace where I could live and not bother anybody with my playing and singing. Historically, dogs, horses and bovines have been okay with me and my music. (:
Right now, I have a plan to acquire some new music toys through conventional means and will share as I have stuff to share.
Were it legal, or feasible, I would have read this entry to you and ended with Bob Dylan's Final Theme for the Pat Garrett & Billy The Kid soundtrack...Maybe some day.
Happy Sunday to everyone!
