Recently, I've been test-driving music creation software. A couple of weeks ago, I made a decision to actually spend money on one of the packages. The other two songs posted here were created with Sony's ACID Studio. The good folks at Sony give you 30 days to "kick the tires" and totally check out the program. The trial version isn't crippled in any way, you just don't get the large library of loops and sounds you get when you actually "throw down" for it.
My final decision was based on ease of use, quality and quantity of features, flexibility and compatibility across the several file formats in use throughout the industry. And, as with most things, price was also an issue.
Now that I've purchased the complete version of ACID Studio and have been very happy with it so far. It came with over 4,000 loops and MIDI files. I've managed, one way or another, to ferret out another 5,000-6,000 from the web.
This brings issues. It takes a long time to sift through 10,000 sound files to see what you want to use. Sure, they're nicely organized, but still yet. 10,000 files are a lot. But yes, it's a nice problem to have.
So, I have two new songs to post. Newer songs are taking a little longer to complete due to the vast amount of choices I now have.
I'm also creating my own loops with the program's MIDI capabilities.. Lots of learning. Way lots of fun.
What about the next chapter of Girls Night Out? It's kicking and clawing its way up the priority list. I'm about ready for a break from all the music stuff I've been doing, although I really love working on it.
Enjoy!
